Community clean-up

With car spots always heavily in demand and a constant stream of visitors using the public highway to access the many wonderful walks beyond the pub,  last Sunday a group of local residents decided to hold a work party in an effort to tidy up the only remaining public space in Charlton for our many visitors.

With the once pretty and  well cared for area between the pub and the carpark falling into disrepair and increasingly used to as a rubbish dump (some would say encouraged by the derelict building full of builders refuse and the shabby appearance of the lean to full of old cookers and other pub paraphernalia to the back), the group took on a number of tasks in order to revive the area and make it a much more pleasant environment for the many that pass through on a daily basis.

These tasks included:
  • Strimming along the footpath
  • Removal of broken furniture from the lawn area
  • Cleaning out of the stream and the debris that had accumulated there.
  • General sweeping and tidying of the public right of way areas

Many thanks to all involved for their efforts in making the morning a success, and in particular to all the people that walked past and offered their encouragement to the group in their efforts to get the windmill turning again.
